The Wrangler NFR consists of 8 various events that are competed by the top 15 money-winning contestants in each event during the annual PRCA season. The Steer Roping final isn’t competed at the NFR but it does form part of the standings overall world.

  1. Bareback Riding
  2. Steer Wrestling
  3. Team Roping
  4. Saddle Bronc Riding
  5. Tie-Down Roping
  6. Barrel Racing
  7. Bull Riding

Bareback riding is a form of horseback riding without a saddle, cowboys that stand against in this event should have extraordinary balance and consistency. The current

leader in this event is Tim O’Connell, 2nd place cowboy Caleb Bennett is marvelous on his wheels and this event is set to be a thriller at the NFR.

One of the most dangerous and exciting rodeo events in NFR is Steer Wrestling. A cowboy competitor chases after a steer on a horse and then drops down from the horse to gear the steer by the horns and to then wrestle it to the land. MATT REEVES is the current front runner in another closely contested event heading into the NFR.

This event entangled two riders and one steer. The first roper, the header, ropes the front of the steer, and the second roper, the heeler, ropes the steer by its back feet. Standings in the team roping event are very close-fitting and it is set to be a combat all the way until the end. All eyes will be on LUKE BROWN and JOSEPH HARRISON as they are the top leaders in TEAM ROPING (HEADERS) and TEAM ROPING (HEELERS) respectively.

The Saddle Bronc Riding, this event involves a cowboy that tries to stay on the back of a horse for as long as possible while the horse tries to buck off the rider. WYATT CASPER and Ryder Wright are  in the top position respectively in the standings of NFR Saddle Bronc Riding and these two cowboys will have it all to compete for at the Wrangler NFR Saddle Bronc Riding Title.

Calf Roping is another well known name of Tie-Down Roping. A cowboy riding on a horse running after a calf and then throws a rope around its head, the cowboy then coming in to go down from the horse in order to run to the calf and to refrain it by tying

three of its legs together. SHAD MAYFIELD is the cowboy who is the top money-winning contestant in this round.

The rodeo event for female competitors is Barrel Racing. In the barrel racing event, a rider and their horses attempt to finish a cloverleaf pattern around preset barrels in the possible quickest time. Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, the current money list leader, has dominated this year and she will be looking to keep up that form at the Wrangler NFR.

Arguably, the most popular rodeo event is Bull Riding. Cowboys effort to stay seated upon a bucking bull for as long as possible while the bull tries to buck them off. A rider needs to stay on the bull for at least 8 seconds in order to receive a score, many have called it the 8 most dangerous seconds in sport. SAGE KIMZEY leads the world standing by over $92,334.42 and he looks set to become a world champion at the NFR 2020.

NFR Prize Money

The 2020 Wrangler NFR total prize money is set to be worth $10 million and isolated event winners are expected to receive roughly $75,000 for the 1st place position.
